I Avoided FOMO & Went to BIGSOUND

Pic by Dave Kan

H'okay so, Bigsound is over, I'm v sleep deprived but in order to stay relevant like a good blogger would, I am going to post about the things I saw, heard, and learnt at this year's showcase ASAP, I'm clearly very professional. So here is my lil overview of the last couple of days.

Lucky for me, this conference takes place in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane so Bigsound was a geographical win for me. There was so much going on everywhere, so many important people, so many talented people and so many well-dressed people, you would totally be forgiven for feeling slightly intimidated.

Oh so you say you want highlights? I got plenty, I will even put them in beautiful dot point form.

  • GRRL PAL should probs be invited to do a Like A Version after their SBTRKT cover and also as a prize for their outstanding participation at the day 1 after party

  • Porsches had sweet matching Adidas tracksuits and invited pals onstage during Horses

  • The contrast between Ella Thompson's talking voice & singing voice (idk which I love more tbh)

  • Crowd participation during all the yung MC's set's (Gill Bates, Baro, Milwaukee Banks

  • Dorsal Fins sinking VB tinnies and having a great time with 9 ppl on stage

  • Sui Zhen's whole thang

  • JOY. + full band is tight. Big ups to the sax player who started learning less than a month ago!

  • Joyride hype-maning the Brocase at TBC

  • The Flying Cock becoming home base in the afternoons for hangs and mingles

  • Seeing artists showing support for each other in the crowd was a beautiful thing :)

Living Bigsound 2015 for 2 days was like living inside of an inspirational speech. The standard and versatility of Australian music right now blows my damn mind. I would 10/10 highly recommend attending next year if you like meeting people who like what you like and you enjoy a phat multi-venue party with all kinds of cool people.

I'm gonna nap now and this time, i'm not going to be woken up by v loud 4am Spongebob playing in the room next to me, just gonna dream of all the dreamy showcases <3

#SITG Gee Up

OOoooOOOooohhhhh so soon, so soon, so soon. Hey Splendour m80's* I just got over my post-splendour-2014 -depression yesterday in time to get us all gee'd up to reclaim North Byron Parklands and do it all again.

I made a dream list of songs I want to hear the most at Splendour In The Grass this year. In a perfect world made of rainbows and smiles, i'd see full sets of everyone i've ever crushed on that made the line up but clashes and other distractions are inevitable and you will without a doubt have to make some sacrifices to the Splendour gods along the way.

In my optimism i'm going to be playing out this playlist from here on in until my arrival at the camp ground to get me fully gee'd up for all the good times that are about to be had. Splendour lead up is just the best time to be alive (if you have a ticket). If you don't, you're definitely already sick of hearing about it and I'm so sorry for your loss. I have attached you a little something to comfort you in your time of need. :'(

I hope you make the most of your weekend and remember, you have every weekend to get shit-faced and go camping with your pals so make are you actually go into the festival and see what you have spent your hard earned pennies on.

Can't wait to kick things off and cut shapes and drink red bull with you all on Thursday!! Woo partiiiiiii

*like m8 but 80, so matey (no one seems to be getting this and it's making me look like I've kooked the m8 thing so I feel I should explain it) c'mon ppl.

Love your jitterbug, Kritty. xxx

Pls enjoy.

And, for those missing out </3
