You Better Not Have Missed These ~ Albums

Ahoy there!

Well, well, well, what a cool year it has been for the album. I am happy to announce that I bought 6 albums this year with real money (rare). Last week's reunion special had me catching you up on cool tracks that you might have missed over the past few months so this week is record time.

Ooooh baby baby, you're not gonna believe your ears. Some of my favourite albums of all time came out this year and i'm still jumping for joy and playing them from start to finish on a regular basis.

Man oh man oh man here we go, without further adieu (ado?) the best albums of the year so far imho.

Nao - For All We Know

I'm listening to this right now! I have listened to this 18 track album from start to finish more times this year than I have been incorrectly been called Kirsty (TOO MANY TIMES).  Great news for me is Nao is coming to Laneway next year and great news for Nao is that if she forgets the words i've got her covered. Watch her take over the world.

Santigold - 99c

Fun fact: the first post I ever wrote was about Santigold. I was listening to L.E.S Artistes and Disparate Youth on a constant loop one night and it inspired me to start this blog so yeah. Make a mental note of this in case it's a trivia question one day.

99c is a perfect album and the concept and marketing of the whole thing is flawless. Santigold is a visionary and in my top 2 artists of all time.

Rihanna - Anti

I really hope this isn't the first you are hearing of this. If you are like Sandro and have been SLEEEPING, let this be your prompt to stop what you're doing right now and listen to this for your own good. Every song on Anti could be a single and that's all I need to say.

Kanye West - The Life Of Pablo

He mf did it again. Probably his best album ever. T.L.O.P should have done for Kanye what Never Say Never 3D did for Bieber. Convert the naysayers into Ye'sayers!

Next time you hear a hater flapping their lips, get them to shooshie up but sticking some of those weird new wireless earphones in their holes and playing any song from this LP.

M.I.A. - AIM

If you follow me on anything you might have noticed my subtle hints that I am obsessed with M.I.A.. When I heard she had a whole album on the way I could have OD'd on joy.

There are so many good tracks on this album, Finally, Borders, Visa, Swords, Go Off etc etc etc. Now is also a good time to mention that the best song in the world is Paper Planes - make a mental note.

AlunaGeorge - I Remember

My favourite thing about this album has nothing to do with how it sounds. What Aluna is singing about in some of these songs are SO empowering.

Mean What I Mean and I'm in Control are 2 of the songs of the year imho. (If someone could explain to me the dynamic of Aluna and George that would be great because I'm so confused, is George just camera shy?).

IMYSM

LTNS! (Did I just coin the 'long time, no see' abbreviation?)

I'm back baby and I come bearing gifts. Pretend that I am your friend in year 5 who goes overseas with their family and you miss her/him but you also know that you are gonna get some sweet souvenirs when they return!

I have outdone that friend in primary school because i've pulled through with gifts from Australia, the UK, the U.S and even a spicy number from the Dominican Republic because i'm an exotic traveller.

Long story short, we have some catching up to do. Before I dive back in to sharing my fav new tracks of the week, let me fill you in on what you might have missed over the past couple of months.

We got new Club Aerobics, NLV Records, DBM and the best news of all, NEW M.I.A. - but also, potentially the last M.I.A. :'(

pls enjoy.

Ikea Care Package

What's shakin', bacon?

Hands up if you've had to single handedly put together an Ikea flatpack? *raises hand*. Sorry to make you revisit the trauma. Seems those Sweeds are taking the piss sometimes with their ridiculous screws that don't go in and their maliciously vague instructions. Aside from that, Ikea is like an IRL Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Literally the most amazing place I've ever been in my life and they are on a fast track to the future IMO.

Enough praise, back to the harsh reality of sweating ur ass off trying to assemble a chest of draws and god forbid any other additional purchases (r.i.p to you). What I have found is that if you have a nice selection of tunes encouraging you through this tough time, your experience will be far less painful. S/O NLV for saving my life with her lit af Diplo & Friends mix <3.

So what I have decided to do for anyone out their planning a trip to Wonderland Ikea and staring down the face of this beast, is to curate a super long playlist to push you through. Gotta be like 4 hrs minimum cuz unless you're Bob the fucking Builder, you're gonna be crawling around on the floor looking for "missing parts" (definitely gotta be missing a part!) for a while and doing half time yoga 'cause ur back is spent. ENJOY and GOODLUCK! Also this playlist also doubles as a pre drinks/party/kick ons lil soundtrack so don't feel left out if you can't make it to Ikea anytime soon.

p.s this has inspired me to make a "Songs to makes flatpack to" mix as an alternative to a playlist. Stay tuned for that. .xxxxxxxxxx

Feb Essentials

Hey lil muff,

Krit has been a busy gyal and my computer has mad viruses which is making using Soundcloud almost impossible. (mac's are meant to be virus proof, no?) (anyone know a good place to disinfect sick computers in Syd?).

I haven't been able to endlessly scroll through all the new musics but I did manage to cop a few heaters. Speaking of things that alter temperature, I have also spent 2 WHOLE DAYS trying to hunt down a fan for my room and they are sold out EVERYWHERE. I'm talking' Kmart, Big W, Officeworks, not even fucking Typo had any weird novelty ones, what's up with that? My housemate went overseas tho so I racked his, he doesn't know, he also doesn't know about this blog so he never will lol. (hey chris if u reading' this, I will return ur fan b4 u home to notice, we cool?)

K so lemme give you the run down of what you are about to treat your ears with. NLV Records keeps delivering the G-O-O-D-S with NLV's new one Now or Never, we got some new stuff from queen Thast, hot nĂ¼ Baauer, Fresh Hex, and Club cheval. Club Aerobics put out their first release from co-founder Ducky and it's been getting remixed left right and centre so you'll find out my fav one below. Deadboy and Murlo's new project DBM FINALLLLLLY put Squeeze on Soundcloud so that's in their too, plus more kewl tunes.

That's all I've got to say for now. So plz, if you know a fan supplier (cheap pls, it hard out here for a binch) or have any computer hospital tips hmu. Pls enjoy and cya on the internet xxxxxxxx

New Favs in 1 Convenient Mix !

Hey lil vegemites,

I have so many new songs to show you, I haven't done a playlist for a while, I apologise. This week I am doing something a lil different. Rather than making a ginormous playlist I put all the new and cool songs (not all new but all cool) into a mix for you convenience! ^_^. I don't normally post my mixes on this lil blog because I like to keep it separate but in the case we have here today, I have too many track I wanna show you and we both know ppl skip through long playlists because the world is a lazy, instant craving place isn't it.

If you would like to know why the mix is titled 'Shit Happens', pls read the description under the mix :) S/O Henrik The Artist, Babeisland and Swick for appearing the most times in this mix, congratulations. Amongst them there is bulk Trekkie Trax, LuckyMe and DUCKY that I hope the whole world hears and loves. I'll have a full track listing by tomorrow but if you can't wait that long for a track ID you can ask me either by putting a lil comment on the mix or send me a message on my FB page here.

If me making mixes is news to you and you wanna hear my others they are all here. Ok that's all, soz this was boring :( The mix is way more fun I promise. Also, I have a post to prep u for Laneway coming up and some rlly cool mixes from friends coming soon that are all super exciting so pls don't leave me, ever. xxxx

Top 15 of '15

Hello, its me.

This killed me. I honestly have the worst time picking shortlists of fav songs. For example, I just submitted my Hottest 100 votes after 4 days of agonising about how I could possibly cut 64 songs down to 10 and then when you get to 11 and you have to leave 1 behind, UGHH it's horrible (I'm so sorry Basenji, forgive me).

So to make things a lil less painful, I gave myself 5 more songs than triple j gave me and my justification is that it is 2015 so I get 15 songs, it works. I hope I didn't have any major oversights but I'm sure I did because this year has been such a good year for cool new songs and producers ^_^ pls enjoy.

1. Swick - Crystal Palace

My iTunes play count tells me this was my #1 song of the year. One of my top 3 producers, I've never hears a Swick track that I didn't like and this is the one I like the best out of them all and will play until the day I die.

2. Lido & Canblaster - Superspeed

A close second, I played this song A LOT this year. Lido & Canblaster are the match made in heaven and this is the collaboration of the year IMO.

3. Hi Tom - Bugatti Friendz

Another one of my top 3 producers, Hi Tom killed it this year. I kept hearing this song in mixes and it was killin' me that I couldn't own it. When it finally got released I befriended it asap and never let it go.

4. What So Not - Gemini ft. George Maple

One of my most anticipated moments at this year's Splendour In The Grass was seeing George Maple sing this live. Such a beautiful song, such a beautiful moment. The Mix Up tent still has my heart.

5. B2GETHER (Mija Remix) - Major Lazer

As far as remixes go, this remix of Major Lazer by the lil firecracker, Mija floored me as soon as I heard it. As a fan of nightcore, this pitched up spin on B2GETHER isn't quite nxc, but it's pretty damn close.

6. Nina Las Vegas x Swick - Cool Sports

Another millionaire matchmaker type of collab that I'm always down for is NLV teaming up with Swick. The whole Cool Sports EP is such a good time that picking a fav is almost impossible. However once again my play count tells me this is the #1.

7. Rytmeklubben - Girlfriend

Individually I am obsessed with each of these Norwegian producers, Hi Tom, Henrick the Artist, Torjus and DJ Karaoke, so you could imagine my excitement when they put out a new single under the Rytmeklubben collective. It's perfect, so so perfect.

8. Shorty - What's Going On

It's no secret Grime conquered this year. Most people would probably say Skepta took out the title for grime song of the year with Shutdown, but I disagree. I think the reason I like this better comes down to one single bar, the part where Shorty goes "'nuff man wanna talk about flows, but are using my one, this flow was made in taiwan". Idk why but the way he says that gee's me up so much.

9. BOYSLASHFREIND - UP2U ft. GETOVERHER (prod. Joseph Marinetti)

Meet another member of my top 3 producers elite team, Joseph Marinetti. This song is great and is one of the most underrated songs of 2015.  Joe's production is fire as usual and BOYSLASHFRIEND and GETOVERHER bring it to life.

10. Club cheval - From The Basement To The Roof (Oliver Remix)

Another bangin' collective, this time from France, the Club coeval boys smashed it this year. The O.G of this track is just as amazing, however the Oliver remix took the cake for me.

11. KAN TAKAHIKO - NRG (Masayoshi Iimori Remix)

TREKKIE TRAX give me another reason to love Japan more and more everyday. They put out so much cool shit this year and this Masayoshi Iimori remix of NRG has one of the coolest drops ever. Every time I play this ppl lose their damn minds come 1:35.

12. WUKI - Lip Pop

Lip Pop sounds as poppin' as the title would suggest. I'm usually a sucker for a super cute vocal but this deep topline is the perfect pairing with the deep down low bouncin' bass.

13. GENER8TION Ft. M.I.A - The New International Sound (Part ||)

I love everything M.I.A touches as I'm sure I've told you before. So when she jumped on this track, after the original already had me good, I was overjoyed. I feel like this song got forgotten about too soon as did that insane video.

14. Cosmo's Midnight - Walk With Me ft. KUCKA

Love these twins. Their EP is star studded with so many beautiful collaborators I can't even deal. Sarah BonitoHi Tom, Lido, Wave Racer, the list goes on. Despite all those collaborations, this one is still top dog, more specifically, top Husky. (watch the vid)

15. Wave Racer - Fash Drive ft. Baby

Speaking of lil Wavey, he put out an EP of his own late this year. The first single Flash Drive is my fav from the release and my 15th fav song from 2015. The whole aesthetic is right up my alley, the track itself, the video the super cute USB that holds the EP. Luv it luv it luv it.

Myspace top 8

Hey sup, long time no see, sorry 'bout that. I've been busy on EDM cruise ship festivals and attending conferences and what not. I missed you all individually.

Speaking of things I've missed, remember Myspace :') Picking your top 8 friends was the highlight of my schooling career. I use to do all the cool things like get pet widgets on my page and I think I had a glitter gif or two as well. My fav part though was picking profile songs. I was never one of those people who had it on auto-play though because that shit was so annoying m i rite?

So in honour of Myspace I have combined two of it's greatest features, top 8 friends and profile songs. Think of the songs as your friends. If I had to pic my top 8 song-friends rn, these would be the ones I would proudly sport on my page.

pls enjoy and add me on myspace, my hotmail account is a secret and I'm not sure if it's still active but I always friend back...Unless you are that teacher from year 6, weird.

Songs to Fill the Void Left by Sean Paul

Besides the price for hash browns at Mcdonalds (not lovin' that)...wat up?

You know what isn't up, anything as good as Temperature from Seal Paul, not even anything from Baby Bash that levels with Suga Suga and thinking about the reality of that makes me sad. tbh every morning I wake up and check the internet for any signs of new stuff from either of them and every moring I am left feeling disappointed. The way I get over this sadness is by taking the "glass half full" approach to life. Sure there will never be another Temperature or another Suga Suga but there are new favs to meet everyday from other legends in the making!

With every new A+ track I find, the void that has been in my life ever since the bois walked out on me is filled a little bit more. One day I hope to be completely healed and I believe this is an achievable goal with the way things are going in my Soundcloud journey of life.

The A+ songs I've found this week come from some of my #1 producers rn. Mr Carmack newest release is well fiery, a perfect mashup of SOPHIE's Lemonade and MSMSMSM has surfaced, the Iglew remix of Birthday has been set free, Bok Bok remixed Lean & Bop, Air Max '97's first NLV Records release is large, jersey club queen UNIIQU3 did her thang on Anna Lunoe's Satisfaction and there is more Snappy Jit, never enough Snappy Jit!

So I hope you become less lost in the world and find that these songs help you to move on from the heartbreak caused Sean Paul and Baby Bash doing the dip on us and then doing weird comeback things that nobody even knows happened  :(

Love you forever and ever xxxx

p.s sean paul ur twitter game is unfollowable pls fix.

Playlists & Priorities

'allo puffle, I hope you had a wonderful sleep last night. Before we begin...

 ====================== Disclaimer ===================
Hello mum and dad, i know u both religiously read the things i write on here and listen to all the hot fiyah 2gether. I just wanna say that you should not be concerned about what the following post is going to entail. I do have my life together, everything is under control, think of it as a fun challenge. Also this is way lol because you probably can't even read this writing it's so small and blurry.
   ====================== Disclaimer ===================

Basically, what is happening is I have a exam to complete b4 tomorrow night and an assignment due Monday (which i was not aware of until about 2 hrs ago oopsie whoopsie). Most people would avoid distractions at all costs to complete these tasks however, the way I see it, these tasks are infact distracting more from this stuff and tbh idek which is more important anymore. So as the clock strike 2am, here we are.

I couldn't sleep on all these uploads that have popped up on Soundcloud in the past 24hrs, so much has happened I don't know what to do with myself.

Obviously the very first release from recently launched NLV Records is absolutely necessary, Canblaster is killin' me with his stream of releases, CHLO put out my fave remix of the week, Murlo stopped me in my tracks, and Activa Benz continue to do everything right.

Now that I have got this out of my system I should probably return back to my studies. Or maybe not, I am still deciding.

Goodluck with ur lyf xxx

Picks from Pals : ♀ venus ♀

Hello, its about that time to introduce you to my next friend from the internet!!

This one's gonna be real good, venus and I have almost identical tastes in music. We spend most of out time freaking out about new tracks together on Facebook and Twitter, we also frantically Snapchat each other when we are excited about things. Past examples include when I was at Basenji and venus was at Sidechains on the same night and more recently, when Jack was on Mix Up Exclusives last weekend. We have also met IRL and it was magical :')

Bringing you more magical moments, here are some of her fave tracks chosen 4 u!

Fresh Hex - UR All Th@ I Want
This song so perfectly blends a classic throwback tune with modern unironically happy dance vibes. When I grow up I want to be Fresh Hex.

GRRL - Magic
Brilliant overlapping beats and an almost percussive melody, GRRL keeps churning out the minimal club tracks but I think this is their best yet.

DEPRESSED TEENAGER x Uniiqu3 - Fuck the Club (Thrashin’) Pt.2
Okay how many tunes are there about tearing up the club and enjoying being single?? Also this song features the jersey goddess Uniiqu3 so that’s a huuuge plus.

aamourocean - Easy Bae
Any song that uses a really unexpected sample I kinda instantly fall in love with. Aamourocean turns this v tame Lily Allen tune into a surprising banger with lots of cool synths.

Alfie Casanova - No Longer Alone
Speaking of Lily Allen samples let’s talk about Alfie Casanova. For this track he borrows a l
ittle something from her and completely reimagines it as a glistening synthy tUUUNE.

WIFISLILANGEL - Drop That Kitty
I love me some nightcore, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Songs just go so much harder when pitched/sped up idk. Also major props to Charli XCX and Tinashe for being amazing at what they do.

Henrik the Artist x Kochi Boy - Friends Forever
The melody and the bass in this track complement each other so well, it’s just a really well composed piece of dance music. Henrik can do no wrong, and is also a perfect musical duo with the mysterious Kochi Boy.

James Deen - Huskydoggetsheadmassage.mp3
Such a positive jam, every time I hear this song I always get so happy so I had to include it in this playlist. Be happy y’all.

Sophia Grace - Best Friends
Your favs could never, all respect to the realest Sophia Grace. There is honestly no irony when I say this is a great song #mustardonthebeathoe

Hooray new friends! Our pal venus also makes super cool mixes using songs that are good like these. Check them owwwt HERE

p.s pls notice beautiful new signature >>

Picks from Pals : LEOOO

I have something a lil different for ya this week. It's gonna be a fun new thing called 'Picks from Pals'. Basically, a few times a month i'll get one of my way cool URL friends to curate a playlist for me that I can then share with YOU and bring much joy to your life.

The first pal to grace us with his fiery playlist is Leooo. I'll let him introduce his picks 4 you.

1。 Joseph Marinetti - LIPSYNC (Big Dope P remix)

If you dig ghetto club music, Big dope P is your man. I heard the original track in a LuckyMe Rinse FM mix and went crazy trying to get it and then this remix came out and got me even more hyped.

2。 Siriusmo - Nights Off ( Djemba Djemba’s J beibs flip)

You should know that I’m Siriusmo’s biggest fan. It’s very hard to find a full track of Siriusmo online, so instead I give a remix done by the awesome Djemba Djemba.

3。 Sinjin Hawke ft. Dj Sliink - Gas Pump

When curating this playlist, this is the first track that popped into my head. It reunites my two favorite artists with Sinjin Hawke crazy synths and Sliink’s vocal chops. This tune goes innnn.

4。 Club cheval - Discipline

This is my most played track atm, the vocal arrangement and melody is perfect. If you don’t know Club cheval, get to know these guys and listen to their first EPs to see how far they’ve come to produce this one.

5。 Popcaan -Naughty girl (Dubble dutch Hyperwine Refix)

I have a weakness for any song that features Popcaan. From the Major Lazer Carnival Mixes to Jamie XX, this guy’s voice suits everything. This is my favorite remix of him by Dubble Dutch!

6。 Sicko Mobb feat. Lil Durk - Maserati (Tommy Kruise remix)

I listen to this track almost every day, it is just that good. The synths makes put me in a trance and that autotuned Sicko Mobb vocal is perfect.

7。 Rae Sremmurd - No Type (Canblaster & SirOJ orchestral refix)

The word orchestral gives you a hint about what this remix is about. Canblaster & SirOJ team up on this classical cover of No type. Hearing classical music likes this makes me wanna do a trap remix of the 5th symphony.

8。 Joker - Midnight (Picard Brothers remix)

The Picard Brothers are one of my favourite acts at the moment. They released an EP earlier this year and are also credited on the Major Lazer track, Powerful. This is my favorite remix from them.

9。 DJ Dodger Stadium - Love Songs

This is not a love song. DJ Dodger Stadium is Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy, the guys behind the BODY HIGH label. As a group, Jerome and Samo produce smooth house, like this tune, taken from their first LP, Friend of mine.

10。 Boys Noize - Shine Shine

To show you what I listened to when I was 15 i’ve also put in a Boys Noize tune from his first LP, Oi Oi Oi. Boys Noize is and will always be one of my favorite producers.

See how fun and cool that was?! Big ups Leooo ya ledge thanks for the soundtrack to my weekend <3

Love Kritty xxx.

p.s notice there are french fries in the image becuase Leooo is french duh.
