Feb Essentials

Hey lil muff,

Krit has been a busy gyal and my computer has mad viruses which is making using Soundcloud almost impossible. (mac's are meant to be virus proof, no?) (anyone know a good place to disinfect sick computers in Syd?).

I haven't been able to endlessly scroll through all the new musics but I did manage to cop a few heaters. Speaking of things that alter temperature, I have also spent 2 WHOLE DAYS trying to hunt down a fan for my room and they are sold out EVERYWHERE. I'm talking' Kmart, Big W, Officeworks, not even fucking Typo had any weird novelty ones, what's up with that? My housemate went overseas tho so I racked his, he doesn't know, he also doesn't know about this blog so he never will lol. (hey chris if u reading' this, I will return ur fan b4 u home to notice, we cool?)

K so lemme give you the run down of what you are about to treat your ears with. NLV Records keeps delivering the G-O-O-D-S with NLV's new one Now or Never, we got some new stuff from queen Thast, hot nü Baauer, Fresh Hex, and Club cheval. Club Aerobics put out their first release from co-founder Ducky and it's been getting remixed left right and centre so you'll find out my fav one below. Deadboy and Murlo's new project DBM FINALLLLLLY put Squeeze on Soundcloud so that's in their too, plus more kewl tunes.

That's all I've got to say for now. So plz, if you know a fan supplier (cheap pls, it hard out here for a binch) or have any computer hospital tips hmu. Pls enjoy and cya on the internet xxxxxxxx

Top 15 of '15

Hello, its me.

This killed me. I honestly have the worst time picking shortlists of fav songs. For example, I just submitted my Hottest 100 votes after 4 days of agonising about how I could possibly cut 64 songs down to 10 and then when you get to 11 and you have to leave 1 behind, UGHH it's horrible (I'm so sorry Basenji, forgive me).

So to make things a lil less painful, I gave myself 5 more songs than triple j gave me and my justification is that it is 2015 so I get 15 songs, it works. I hope I didn't have any major oversights but I'm sure I did because this year has been such a good year for cool new songs and producers ^_^ pls enjoy.

1. Swick - Crystal Palace

My iTunes play count tells me this was my #1 song of the year. One of my top 3 producers, I've never hears a Swick track that I didn't like and this is the one I like the best out of them all and will play until the day I die.

2. Lido & Canblaster - Superspeed

A close second, I played this song A LOT this year. Lido & Canblaster are the match made in heaven and this is the collaboration of the year IMO.

3. Hi Tom - Bugatti Friendz

Another one of my top 3 producers, Hi Tom killed it this year. I kept hearing this song in mixes and it was killin' me that I couldn't own it. When it finally got released I befriended it asap and never let it go.

4. What So Not - Gemini ft. George Maple

One of my most anticipated moments at this year's Splendour In The Grass was seeing George Maple sing this live. Such a beautiful song, such a beautiful moment. The Mix Up tent still has my heart.

5. B2GETHER (Mija Remix) - Major Lazer

As far as remixes go, this remix of Major Lazer by the lil firecracker, Mija floored me as soon as I heard it. As a fan of nightcore, this pitched up spin on B2GETHER isn't quite nxc, but it's pretty damn close.

6. Nina Las Vegas x Swick - Cool Sports

Another millionaire matchmaker type of collab that I'm always down for is NLV teaming up with Swick. The whole Cool Sports EP is such a good time that picking a fav is almost impossible. However once again my play count tells me this is the #1.

7. Rytmeklubben - Girlfriend

Individually I am obsessed with each of these Norwegian producers, Hi Tom, Henrick the Artist, Torjus and DJ Karaoke, so you could imagine my excitement when they put out a new single under the Rytmeklubben collective. It's perfect, so so perfect.

8. Shorty - What's Going On

It's no secret Grime conquered this year. Most people would probably say Skepta took out the title for grime song of the year with Shutdown, but I disagree. I think the reason I like this better comes down to one single bar, the part where Shorty goes "'nuff man wanna talk about flows, but are using my one, this flow was made in taiwan". Idk why but the way he says that gee's me up so much.

9. BOYSLASHFREIND - UP2U ft. GETOVERHER (prod. Joseph Marinetti)

Meet another member of my top 3 producers elite team, Joseph Marinetti. This song is great and is one of the most underrated songs of 2015.  Joe's production is fire as usual and BOYSLASHFRIEND and GETOVERHER bring it to life.

10. Club cheval - From The Basement To The Roof (Oliver Remix)

Another bangin' collective, this time from France, the Club coeval boys smashed it this year. The O.G of this track is just as amazing, however the Oliver remix took the cake for me.

11. KAN TAKAHIKO - NRG (Masayoshi Iimori Remix)

TREKKIE TRAX give me another reason to love Japan more and more everyday. They put out so much cool shit this year and this Masayoshi Iimori remix of NRG has one of the coolest drops ever. Every time I play this ppl lose their damn minds come 1:35.

12. WUKI - Lip Pop

Lip Pop sounds as poppin' as the title would suggest. I'm usually a sucker for a super cute vocal but this deep topline is the perfect pairing with the deep down low bouncin' bass.

13. GENER8TION Ft. M.I.A - The New International Sound (Part ||)

I love everything M.I.A touches as I'm sure I've told you before. So when she jumped on this track, after the original already had me good, I was overjoyed. I feel like this song got forgotten about too soon as did that insane video.

14. Cosmo's Midnight - Walk With Me ft. KUCKA

Love these twins. Their EP is star studded with so many beautiful collaborators I can't even deal. Sarah BonitoHi Tom, Lido, Wave Racer, the list goes on. Despite all those collaborations, this one is still top dog, more specifically, top Husky. (watch the vid)

15. Wave Racer - Fash Drive ft. Baby

Speaking of lil Wavey, he put out an EP of his own late this year. The first single Flash Drive is my fav from the release and my 15th fav song from 2015. The whole aesthetic is right up my alley, the track itself, the video the super cute USB that holds the EP. Luv it luv it luv it.

1 Year of Cool Songs & LoL's

(in my office, no desk = no fun)

Hey superstars, welcome to my 1 year anniversary post ^_^

On this day last year I shared my very first post from this lil thing, can you believe it. Part of me feels like it flew by but at the same time, when I look at what has happened since, I can't believe it has only been 365 days. crassi!

I luv writing nonsense to you every week and showing you all the cool songs I find and who woulda thought that other ppl kinda like it too. I never thought this could ever lead to me doing stuff for triple j Unearthed (s/o Lachie + Max), working for NLV Records (s/o Nina) and inthemix (s/o Katie a.k.a lil cunny), but it has and that's wild. I started this because I like showing friends their new fav songs and spotlighting new artists and seeing how grateful they are makes me :D and that's the best part of all.

So thanks to anyone who has ever listened to a playlist, liked a post or just read what I mindlessly typed at 2am in the morning. You're all gems. Thanks to Alex for helping with the design of my header/buttons/logo and taking pics of me. However, the biggest thanks out of all goes to Nina Las Vegas, my biggest inspiration and the most caring heart in the whole world, she kinda changed my life a bit.

Srs buisiness outta the way!! Soz if u bored/sad. At the start of next week I'm gonna have a more exciting post dw. Since that first post I ever shared was about my top songs of 2014, I thought I'd show ya the best songs that have come out in the last year, IMO. Cya then, can't wait. ilysm xxxxxx

...Feels weird not giving you something to listen to , so you can have this. DUCKY's RAVE TOOL series has been a highlight of 2015, I suggest you catch up. This is the latest.

Picks from Pals : LEOOO

I have something a lil different for ya this week. It's gonna be a fun new thing called 'Picks from Pals'. Basically, a few times a month i'll get one of my way cool URL friends to curate a playlist for me that I can then share with YOU and bring much joy to your life.

The first pal to grace us with his fiery playlist is Leooo. I'll let him introduce his picks 4 you.

1。 Joseph Marinetti - LIPSYNC (Big Dope P remix)

If you dig ghetto club music, Big dope P is your man. I heard the original track in a LuckyMe Rinse FM mix and went crazy trying to get it and then this remix came out and got me even more hyped.

2。 Siriusmo - Nights Off ( Djemba Djemba’s J beibs flip)

You should know that I’m Siriusmo’s biggest fan. It’s very hard to find a full track of Siriusmo online, so instead I give a remix done by the awesome Djemba Djemba.

3。 Sinjin Hawke ft. Dj Sliink - Gas Pump

When curating this playlist, this is the first track that popped into my head. It reunites my two favorite artists with Sinjin Hawke crazy synths and Sliink’s vocal chops. This tune goes innnn.

4。 Club cheval - Discipline

This is my most played track atm, the vocal arrangement and melody is perfect. If you don’t know Club cheval, get to know these guys and listen to their first EPs to see how far they’ve come to produce this one.

5。 Popcaan -Naughty girl (Dubble dutch Hyperwine Refix)

I have a weakness for any song that features Popcaan. From the Major Lazer Carnival Mixes to Jamie XX, this guy’s voice suits everything. This is my favorite remix of him by Dubble Dutch!

6。 Sicko Mobb feat. Lil Durk - Maserati (Tommy Kruise remix)

I listen to this track almost every day, it is just that good. The synths makes put me in a trance and that autotuned Sicko Mobb vocal is perfect.

7。 Rae Sremmurd - No Type (Canblaster & SirOJ orchestral refix)

The word orchestral gives you a hint about what this remix is about. Canblaster & SirOJ team up on this classical cover of No type. Hearing classical music likes this makes me wanna do a trap remix of the 5th symphony.

8。 Joker - Midnight (Picard Brothers remix)

The Picard Brothers are one of my favourite acts at the moment. They released an EP earlier this year and are also credited on the Major Lazer track, Powerful. This is my favorite remix from them.

9。 DJ Dodger Stadium - Love Songs

This is not a love song. DJ Dodger Stadium is Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy, the guys behind the BODY HIGH label. As a group, Jerome and Samo produce smooth house, like this tune, taken from their first LP, Friend of mine.

10。 Boys Noize - Shine Shine

To show you what I listened to when I was 15 i’ve also put in a Boys Noize tune from his first LP, Oi Oi Oi. Boys Noize is and will always be one of my favorite producers.

See how fun and cool that was?! Big ups Leooo ya ledge thanks for the soundtrack to my weekend <3

Love Kritty xxx.

p.s notice there are french fries in the image becuase Leooo is french duh.

Hey lemonade kids,

This morning a phresh release came out via Wile Out, and its dedicated to all you slimy club cats. LunyP's new EP Sucker DJs Remixes is gonna get you in the spirit to stand in a kaleidoscope of ultraviolet lights and lasers and let these klerrb bangers intrude your body as you choke on smoke machines. Cool Sports (A+)

sup playa playa?

Trampolines? Don't need em', Jumping castles? nbd. Pogo Sticks? naht today. You might have thought you knew what bouncing was, but listen to Nina Las Vegas x Swick'Cool Sports EP once and you will realise what you have been missing out on in your quest for all the fun-time boings.

Australia's fave gal NLV & Melbourne's very own, king of the quirks, Swick, have given birth to 3 babies, healthy babies, energetic babies, babies that will keep you up all night long wanting your attention. Said babies are in the form of the "AYYYE plus" 3 track EP, Cool Sports out via Fools Gold Records. This is the second colab project for the dream team, following up their first EP Don't Send, Cool Sports is a big fat, red cordial fuelled surprise party.

You never really know where each track is going to go, they make sure to keep you on your twinkle toes the for the whole 11 minutes. Opening with the title track Cool Sports, the build from the start lets you know some shit is about to get wild, like when you hold down that button on the pinball machine before you release it and the little ball shoots off to do some weird rebounds and stuff, bonus rounds and high scores are flying everywhere, such a win. Birthday is next and it's the cutest moofy club track ever, Nina's pitched up vocal is sweet af and anyone who knows me knows that if you wanna win me over, just hit me with a good bubble noise. The party comes to an end with Pool Girls, we can now assume this surprise party is in fact a surprise pool party, double fun m i rite?! This track calms you down a bit after your sugar rush but has enough of the good stuff in it that it will leave you going through withdrawals once its over, you will want to replay the whole thing from start to finish, this is when you will realise you are addicted.

For Nina, this is just the beginning, starting to put more focus onto her original production, she's stepped up and proved herself with this one. Swick is also on the up and up, his last release Crystal Palace out on buddy T-E-E-D'Nice Age label, is also one of the best this year IMO.

So put away your damn roo-boots and stupid exercise balls with handles, Cool Sports is is way better value and 10x more fun.

cya on the streets hustlerz, Love Kritty xx

Royal Babies

Hello fruits of the earth,

I am off to Syndey tomorrow for Groovin The Moo / weekend of going out to dinner and drinking cool drinks at the Opera Bar, so this weeks playlist is getting dumped into your lives today horrayy! This playlist is pretty much a behind the scenes AAA pass to my life this week, I have been giving these tracks the Royal treatment they deserve and I think it's time you get some of this McLovin' in your lives too.

New Disclosure, Tiga, life chaining remixes of Club Cheval, Tinashe and SPICE GIRLS, plus a whole lot of other new friends that you will love. This Spice Girls Wannabe jersey club remix is courtesy of $JAYY and it has everything I have ever been searching for in a Spice Girls remix and believe me, I have been on the hunt for some time. I also think I found my favourite Bitch Better Have My Money remix thanks to old mate Porter Elvinger, it's pretttty different to the original, but #hotdamn its so so good, I <3 it.

Warning: In the case of fire, please evacuate and apply ice immediately to any burns you may receive, if you seek further assistance pls phone the police and the fireman on 000.

Friday Grime Day

It's grime time, trussss me.

3 of my favourite grime boiz Skepta (left), Wiley (middle) and Bonkaz (right) just dropped 3 of the most *fire emoji* music videos ever this week. Grime is taking off rn, coming out hot from England, it's a relatively new genre that came about in the early 2000's and is basically a development from rap, UK garage and dancehall, it's so heavy, it sounds so dirty and it's ridiculously addictive. Don't worry this is no Dizzie Rascal shit, it's so much more legit than that.

Skepta is killllling it after he released SHUTDOWN a couple of months ago and he has just dropped the video for it and the aesthetic is so large. Black and White sportswear as far as the eye can see, yes Skepta i'm all about it. He's got his whole squad behind him doing the whole Kanye West All Day thing (which was inspired by Grime) and I really wish I could be apart of it, I have a black tracksuit so I'm halfway there right?

Wiley is sick, I want Wiley to rap me a theme song that will be played every time I pull up or walk into a room. My favourite thing he has ever done is rap about how he likes rice, basmati, but this new song Chasing The Art is great too, he just put this video out 3 days ago and it's prettttyyy tight, the best part is the graffiti Queen Elizabeth wearing a flatcap, gwan with yo bad self Lizzy!

Then my newest find and love is a fine young lad by the name of Bonkaz. He has been around for about a year and is now starting to blow up after he FINALLY released Run The Block  after only playing it live or in exclusive radio shows. So I am so glad I can finally have it on demand and on repeat, just the way I like it. If that wasn't enough to take over my life, he went and dropped the video on us and i've been unable to stop ever since.

These guys are just 3 of the many, many, many grime acts that are changing the game right now. If you're into this and you like the vibe, I suggest you also keep an ear out for people like Novelist, JME and Sir Spyro to name a few.WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE! Long live grime #wahgwansxc

Love, Kritty xx

p.s if your in Australia it's pretty cold rn so you probably have a hoodie lying around somewhere close, I suggest you source out that hoodie and put it on before watching these videos in order to get the full grime experience. :) Welcome.

#SHUTDOWN

i'm telling yoooOOoou

Cool guys // BEN KHAN

Sup button nose, twinkle toes?

Wanna climb the social ladder and be the coolest person out of everyone you know? Listening to Ben Khan can do this for you. He's a pretty groovy guy out of London who is producing all hits and no misses.

I found out about him a month or so ago after he released his single 1000, which is the title track from his forthcoming EP. After that song got into my system and started a party, I stalked his Soundcloud existence and found myself liking and downloading every single track he has uploaded, which has never happened to me before. I wasn't sure if I was just really enjoying my late night, peppermint tea fuelled listening session way too much or, if this dude really did just adopt my digital heart.

His sound is a first-rate blend of funk and pop featuring swoon-inducing guitar riffs and synthy melodies with a buttery vocal over the top; this is the heart snatcher ladies so keep that shit on lockdown.

He came onto the scene with his first EP 1992 last year (the year he was born, so start calculating whether or not he is too old/young for you, I know I did and 3 years is fine with me). Now about to release the 1000 EP due out next month, he has been racking up the radio plays with the 1000 single and now gaining more attention with the release of his latest single, Zenith which is 2 minutes and 43 seconds of 80's funk-a-fied vibed out amazingness.  So if you want to be cool, make sure you get your daily intake of Ben Khan everyday for 7 days a week.

Just here to help,
Love Kritty xx
