Music for Your Monday Morning

Hello again familiar faces and hello to new friends! Welcome to the first meeting of your Monday morning, I would like to start by introducing you to what will be your soundtrack for the week.

This playlist is scientifically proven (by me) to cure you're monday morning blues, and it's fo' freeee. It is recommended that you play this out loud when doing such activities like showering, brushing teeth, getting dressed etc, doing this will put you in an A+ mood and your good vibes will then ultimately rub off on you're workmates which will in turn change the world, wow the power!

I have thrown in a bunch of different styles into this one as usual, everything from 80's inspired pop, to trap and just about everything in between. Again, I am showcasing a heap of freshly ripened tracks that I found over the past week and can almost guarantee you'll obsess over at least half of them. Prepare yourself because let me tell you, the releases that have come out over the past couple of weeks have been all that and a bag of chips, I know I say this every week but I can't help it if 2015 is totally outdoing herself rn. I could probably do a feature on every single artist in this playlist because they all seem to be on a roll right now and are receiving my little orange Soundcloud hearts from every direction.

I hope you appreciate this playlist as much as I do and I hope it gets your tune rags flapping in the wind. Quick warning, Loud Places by Jamie XX may turn your eardrums into tear-drums so listening is at your own risk and you must accept full responsibility for any feels you may or may not develop. Never fear though because SOPHIE's remix of 'Won't K' is up next and it's super cute and could possibly be made out of smiles so you'll be back to cutting shapes in no time.

If You Don't Know, Now Ya Know : IRIS

Hey meatloaf, this is an exciting feature this week. Let me introduce you to IRIS my newest mp3 lover.

A couple of months ago I came across IRIS's first single "I'll Wait For You" off her forthcoming debut solo EP. Straight away I was caught by the crawling baseline in the intro, because I'm a sucker for a baseline and this one had me on the groove train. From there the song layers and builds and gets the vocal cut treatment. It's one of those unpredictable songs that you don't exactly know where it's going to go. For some reason, I can't pick what is that is provoking this, but she kind of reminds me of Imogen Heap, it could be the vocal. idk.

From hearing "I'll Wait For You" I went onto her full Soundcloud page and saw that this was her only uploaded track so I was a bit bummed out I couldn't go down an IRIS wormhole like I do with most of the artists I find, but at the same time I was super excited to be able to follow her from the very beginning and to hear her sound develop as it happens.

Which brings me to her brand new (less than 24 hour old) new single, "Follow Me".  In my opinion it's even better than "I'll Wait For You," which I think is a good thing ya know, you don't wanna do the opposite, that'd be a bit of an anti-climax wouldn't it. "Follow Me" starts with a gust of wind sample which then rolls into a slow burning, synth-pop vocal, epic, movie soundtrack sounding intro that then escalates with the help of some fancy-finger guitar and some friends in the brass family making themselves known. If I had to sum it up in one word i'd just say "big" because, it's so big, I think it's the brass giving me subconscious elephant vibes or something.

I don't know much about her personally, other than the fact that she is a Spanish-Canadian BABE who is heavily inspired by Steven Tyler, David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, which is a recipe for some prettyyyy cool tunes.


Definitely keep your eye on her for 2015. yeeyuuhh

Big Ups // TroyBoi

Shut ya pie holes, open ya ears and let TroyBoi open your world. This week i'm taking you to London town, but like a weird side alley of London that kinda freaks you out at first but then you realise you love it and want to hang out down there with all the other freaks on weekends.

TroyBoi is such a breath of fresh air, also making up half of the production team  Soundsnobz, his solo yolo approach to beat making is so innovative and completely unique, he has created a sound that is immediately identifiable and really sets him apart from everyone else. He produces tracks in a range of different genres, making it quite clear that he has a really deep pocket of influences to draw upon when creating his masterpieces.

I've been following this lad for about 4 months after I heard 'The Messenger' and had a big oof fest over it, then 'Remember' came out and I was frothin' a little bit, 2 months later O.G came out and I starting to crush really hard, one month later 'Do You' appeared online with it's spaghetti western intro that turns into a heavy, dirty trap beat, then there's the Flosstradamus track 'Soundclash', the Diplo and Friends BBC 1 guest mix, then the next day he dropped his most recent track 'Zone' that is a flutey, violin, wild banger. What I am getting at here is it's only up and up for this London boi.

So yeah TroyBoi, remember the name and run & tell that. *Major Lazer sirens* *drops the mic* *checks to make sure it's alright* *it is, thank god* PMPN 8 EZ

BIGGEST UPS: Tkay Maidza

Hey there glitter balls, so I had assumed that I already made a post about this bouncy lil babe but as I scrolled through my blog searching for grammatical errors that I never, but really should check for before posting, it became a horrific realisation that I had somehow let this much time go by without giving Tkay Maidza the big ups she deserves.  So let me educate the less fortunate souls who haven't got any of this magic in their lives yet.

Tkay has been hip hopping around the Australian music scene for about a year and already has experienced a generous amount of success, landing spots on festivals around the country and being selected for some pretty big support acts for artists like Illy and Charlie XCX.

Zimbabwe born, Rad-elaide raised she is the sassiest 18 year old going around for e.g one of her first songs is titled "Handle My Ego" and she never fails to "brat rap" the crap out of everyone. Pretty much every single track she has ever released is a goddamn hit. Her flow is super fast and super funky fresh and as much as you desperately want to have a karaoke sesh to her verses, it's almost impossible to live up to the skill it takes to speak the english language that quickly. Not only are her raps witty as hell and so energetic but they are the perfect marriage with the incredibly bouncy electronic beats under the track.

Tkay's live shows are everything you expect them to be and so much more, guaranteed to have you vibe cats out there putting your thang down flipping it and reversing it all over the place and walking out a slimy, sweaty, stupidly happy mess, but in the best way possible. 10/10 would recommend

M.O.B (Money Over Bitches) is the latest track Tkay Maidza has put out, premiered on Triple J's "Breakfast with Matt and Alex" just yesterday and let me tell you, there is no acoustic instruments used, there are a decent amount of drops and they are dope af, therefore IT IS A BANNGGGERRR!!

I could literally write a short story about my love for TT Maidza and how I think she is about to explode her rainbow juices over everything and everyone this year, but i'll let you see for yourselves.
